Volume 2, Issue 39  March 28, 2018

On Wednesday, March 28, we finally caught a break, no storms, no snow!  We can finally have a meeting. And what a meeting it was. Our annual Paul Harris Dinner was a great success. By  6 p.m. the Gallery staff was passing out hors d’oeuvers and the cheese and cracker table was fully loaded.  Chris, our bartender, with his uncanny skill to remember people and drinks was busy.  And the 71 members and guests were engaged in lively conversations.

Saunders Out Of The Bullpen
At 7p.m. Past President Bill Saunders, standing in for our injured President Dave Amberg, started the meeting. Art Bradbury and George Schoen opened by leading us in the Welcome Song.

The Pledge followed and Ruth Sheehan gave the Invocation.  Dinners of Prime Rib, Filet, and Salmon were soon on the tables. Dessert of ice cream cake completed the meal.

President Dave on Tape

PP Bill opened the meeting at 8 p.m.by bringing President Elect Kevin Kickery up to the podium. Kevin then played a taped message from our beloved President Dave who is recovering from a traffic accident.

Bill then introduced our special guests this evening, Past District Governor and Past Rotary International Vice President Frank Collins, Past District Governor Sue Klock, And District Governor Elect Marc Glass. Bill also recognized town official, Jeff Curry.

Agnelli, Martin, Currey Honored
Paul Harris Committee Chairman Jim Watts introduced this year’s three Paul Harris recipients, George Agnelli, Mary Martin and Melody Curry. Neal Cunningham, Bill Saunders and Steve Jacoby stepped to the dias to formally introduce each of the recipients, outlining their accomplishments and noting their worthiness for this significant Rotary recognition.
Each of our honorees than gave a short speech thanking Rotary for the honor and introducing their table of guests.

PP Bill concluded the evening by giving special recognition to the people who helped make the night a success, Ceil Collins, Peggy Schoen, George Schoen, Ruth Sheehan, Art Bradbury, and the entire Gallery Staff.

The meeting adjourned at 8:45 for photos and more conversation. All in all, another great Rotary social evening.

Our next meeting is in April so I will say goodbye .My tenure as High Gear writer has ended with only 3 out of 5 meetings this month due to storms .  Better luck to Anwar Hossein who will be wielding the pen in April.
