Wine and cheese welcomed those who arrived early for our weekly meeting, so we could get a head start on our Thanksgiving Holiday celebration.  Thanks to Ceil Collins, Hope Firestone and Bob Buettner for the set-up.

Buettner and Schoen, This Week's Heroes

With the ringing of the bell the meeting was called to order by President Kickery.  After the opening song and pledge of allegiance, past president Dave Amberg led us in an invocation which he culled from the internet.  For those reticent to present the invocation, the internet is a great resource. Following the invocation, we meandered over to the buffet for our lunchtime repast.

Following our meal, President Kickery bought the meeting to order with the ringing of the bell and immediately looked out to see who our guests might be.  They turned out to be Mindy Duval, daughter of Bob Buettner and our speaker who would be introduced later.  Nick Cecere and birthday boy, Art Bradbury, led us in the welcome song.

President Kevin and Treasure Dan Firestone continue to be relieved that Bob Buettner has agreed to be president and George Schoen has agreed to be treasurer for the 2019-2020 club year.  There was some talk around the tables that the term for elected officer might now be two years.  Thanks for stepping up guys.

Holiday Party in Two Weeks

The holiday party is still scheduled for December 5th at The Gallery.  The celebrating begins at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m..  If you have not yet signed up, please contact Ceil Collins at ceilcollins@aol.com ASAP.  The cost is $50 per person and includes an open bar, a full course meal and the comradery of some great friends.

Jack Sayre announced that we are doing quite well in filling the slots for the Salvation Army Holiday Bell Ringing.  However, for those who have not signed up and now wish to give it a try, you can reach Jack at 860-946-4298 or jsayre6@cox.net.

Neal Cunningham passed around a collection envelope to help defray the club’s cost of providing two needy families with Thanksgiving and Christmas meals.  The funds will also help the club provide toys and articles of clothing to needy children at Christmas. Neal has already lined up a number of “elves” to purchase those items.

Business

President Kevin is looking for a new contact at Pratt and Whitney.  The party he had been told to contact was no longer available. It was suggested that he once again contact former member Heather Summer for a reference.

Bob Wood was looking for some more people to fill the invocation slots.  The slots were immediately filled.

Happy birthday was sung to Peter Klock (was it in three-quarters time?) and our forever young Art Bradbury, checking in at 93!
