After we ate, President Kevin started the meeting by calling on Guy LaBella to introduce our guest..

Guy was MIA so Dan Larson stepped up and introduced Rosemary McMahon. We sang the Welcome song, then moved on to caring moments.

Jack Sayre reported that Peg Spiller, whose husband Roy was a longstanding East Hartford Rotarian took a bad spill last week. She is not expected to recover. Let’s keep her in our prayers. Bill Saunders gave an update on his wife Bev, who is doing better. She is in a cast for a few weeks.

We then went through other announcements. Raffle ticket sales are ongoing. Scholarship applications

are in the hands of the reviewers, with selections expected to be made next week. Bob Buettner announced that there is still room for another 25 or 30 people for game night. That takes place this Sat evening.

President Kevin announced that there will be an art show at the Raymond library this weekend.

Ned Lynch reported that he has 29 out of his 30 tickets for the Yard Goats game spoken for.

He can get more if needed but let him know right away if you would like to attend. Mar Glass

reminded us that the District Conference takes place in 2 weeks. The District Assembly is taking place on May 15th and that our President, President Elect, Secretary and Treasurer are all expected to attend. Others are welcome, and the club will pick up the conference fee.

Anwar Hossain let us know that our Rotary Foodshare group sorted out over 4800 lbs. of frozen meat.Quite an accomplishment! Next Foodshare volunteer day will take place in June. He wanted to make sure that we knew Laura Floyd and Bob Buettner were in attendance, but did not appear in the photo that was shared earlier this week.

President Kevin announced that the Town of East Hartford Youth Service’s Department will be honoring Reggie Barall at their “Prevention Idol” talent show May 4^th, 5pm. This will take place at 50 Chapman Place and is free to attend. Mayor’s Cleanup Day is taking place on Sat, May 18 from 9 to noon. They are looking for volunteers to help with cleanup activities along Burnside Ave and Mayberry Village. Lunch will be provided at the end of the activity. Cultural Arts.

Dan Larson was asked by the Enfield Rotary club to share information about their Cinco-K-Mayo Charity

Run/Walk event. It will take place on Saturday May 4^th on Moody Road next to the Enfield Town Annex,24 N Maple St, Enfield. The race starts at 9am. Registration is at 8am.

Sgt. at Arms, Happy Jack Martin, then gave his report. Much money was paid by George Schoen,

Ruth Sheehan, Ned Lynch and Neal Cunningham. for prayers, novenas, and rosaries for the Red Sox.

Bob Buettner gave because he is starting up a President Fund. Happy Jack himself donated for his

upcoming birthday and asked that only those over the age of 94 to sing. No one was admitting to that number.

Dan Firestone gave in celebration of Hope Firestone’s 1948 Restored Jeepster getting them to the meeting and hopes that it will make it all the way back home as well. Early leavers Jim Watts, Anwar Hossain and Ned Lynch paid despite the lack of a speaker today. Kevin Kickery gave for a nice Easter with the family. Steve Jacoby shared that his granddaughter Brigitte Jacoby is graduating from Dickenson College with high honors next month and has accepted a position at Mass General in the research department. She was also offered positions at Yale and NYU. Larry Hangland is building up a get out of jail fund for future

bad behavior, and Bill Saunders paid for no pin. Sgt. at Arms next month is Ned Lynch, so be sure to bring

your wallets.

Once again, Marc Glass won the 50-50 raffle. Again, there were calls for investigations. He is having a very lucky  month as he filled in for Happy Jack, and Peter Klock won the flower raffle.
